Founder and Executive Producer

JAVIER BUSTILLOS is the founder and Executive Producer of BUA which began performing in January 1992. BUA is a self-supporting collective of professional theater artists working to present provocative and relevant work that examines the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer experience. He has been honored for his leadership in the arts and in the LGBT community by the Empire State Agenda, GLYS, and the National Conference for Community and Justice. He serves on the board of the Evergreen Foundation. In 2015 he was inducted into the Theatre District’s Plaza of Stars and was awarded an Artie for Career Achievement.
